This afternoon, Mrs. Scribner, Matt, Aunt Margaret, a Mom, Than and myself piled in a car and drove to Pineland for a walk. It was a really gorgeous day, chilly but not too cold, and very bright. I enjoyed it, for the most part.

I have a problem, however. I just can’t shut up. I like knowing things, so I say out loud quite frequently, “Oh! Did you know that aspen bark produces a natural sunscreen?” “Oh, did you know that the smell of bread baking is really yeast releasing ozone?” “Hey, did you know that half a cup of violet greens contains more vitamin C than four oranges?”

No one cares.

So I need to learn to save my enraptured knowledge-sharing for people like Krissy and Sonja, who appreciate it. I think they’re pretty much the only ones, except Mal who patiently endures most of my annoying traits. The point being, I think I slightly annoyed a certain someone who doesn’t usually get annoyed today. :( It made me really sad, and quite frustrated with myself. It seems like the things that are most ingrained within me are the things that irritate people the most. What can I do about that?

Anyway. I’ll go sleep now.

Oh Hannah! Don’t be too put out – the great thing about feeling kinda dumb about yourself is that no one actually thinks as badly of you as you do; everyone is their own toughest critic. If you get on someones nerves occasionally, they are likely to forget it before the week is out. =D Besides, perhaps the day will come when they get on Jeapordy, (spelling?) and the final question is about the vitamin C content of violets. Then they’ll be very glad they have a friend who knows and shares lots of interesting things. =D

Did you know arnica is the main only thing they use to rub down horses legs. Works great on humans too! What do I do with lemon balm? Do you eat violet greens for breakfast rather than orange juice? And is it wild violets or cultivated?? :-D

Hannah – whenever you feel the need to tell someone what you know (and you should be proud of it! You know a lot of really neat things!), you can always e-mail me. Just about everything else I want to say I think Sonja has already said….hopefully you get what I’m saying better than I’m articulating it, or we’re in trouble. =P
